James &
Johanna
"Wow, thank you so so much for all the lovely photos,
and for being part of our day!"
As a Glasgow local, I was thrilled when Johanna and James invited me to be their photographer for their wedding
day at The Engine Works. A venue that I hadn't had the pleasure of photographing until this fateful day.
I met Johanna and James first for their engagement shoot, images that they were able to use in their stationery
and wedding invites. I was immediately drawn to their chemistry and charisma as a couple, and left the session
extremely excited for their upcoming nuptials.
The pair had decorated the venue with gorgeous flowers and signage, made by Johanna herself. Getting ready
with these two. and their family and friends, made for lots of laughs and was a dream for a wedding photographer. Capturing that natural, documentary style means that everyone needs to remain relaxed and in the moment - and that's
exactly where everyone remained for the duration of the day.
For our couple portrait session, we made use of the venue's beautiful features before making use of the glorious
sunlight on the Glasgow canal path. With a blend of these two settings, I was able to bring a touch of the editorial curation to the pair's wedding gallery, as staying in that candid space allowed them to stay comfortable throughout.
With speeches in English and German, you didn't need to understand every word to feel the emotion and love
that was in that room. And when the music started - it didn't stop: guests stayed on the dancefloor for ceilidh dance,
after ceilidh dance.
I loved how Johanna and James included so many things that they love in their day, meaning they had a day authentic to who they are and celebrating that.
