There's a particular charm to an intimate registry office wedding, and 23 Montrose Street does it beautifully. Just along from Glasgow City Chambers, this listed building blends original architectural detail with a more contemporary, pared-back elegance — the perfect setting for a couple who wanted something personal and unfussy, without losing any of the glamour. As a Glasgow wedding photographer, it's one of my favourite ceremony spaces in the city: intimate, characterful, and full of natural light.
The bride's gown was a showstopper: a Victoria Beckham design, sleek and effortlessly elegant, the kind of dress that photographs as beautifully in motion as it does standing still. Against the refined, understated backdrop of the ceremony suite, it struck exactly the right balance — modern and quietly confident. It's proof that sometimes the simplest silhouette makes the loudest statement.
Every wedding has its highlights, but this one had an especially good one: Ruby, the couple's dog, was right there for the ceremony. Having a pet present on the day always changes the energy in the room — there's an instant, unfiltered warmth to it that no amount of styling can manufacture.
After the ceremony, we headed out into Glasgow city centre for the portrait session — using the mix of grand architecture, quiet side streets, and city energy as a backdrop. It's one of my favourite ways to shoot in Glasgow: letting the city's character do some of the storytelling, rather than relying on a single static location.
We finished the session at Ralph & Finns, where the moodier lighting and glossy interior gave us the chance to capture some properly glitzy, editorial-style images — a nice contrast to the daylight shots earlier in the session. It's the kind of location that adds a different tone to a gallery: sleek, a little dramatic, and full of atmosphere.
